Editor

• Tone sliders now change brightness, not color: darkening Highlights on a seascape darkens the water instead of turning it patchy lavender.
• Highlights and Shadows no longer move pure white and pure black. Those belong to Whites and Blacks.
• Extreme slider combinations no longer flatten a tonal range into one flat tone.
• Color Mixer Saturation and Luminance now work on pale colors, so a washed-out sky responds to the blue sliders.
• Tint now matches other editors: positive is magenta, negative is green.
• Pending edits made with these sliders re-render with the fixes, so a photo you edited earlier can look slightly different now.

Culling

• Filters stay on when you switch folders, so a picks-only pass carries through the whole shoot.
• When a flag or rating drops a photo out of the filter, the next photo is selected for you, in the grid and in the editor.
• X rejects everywhere, including the crop tool.
• Cmd+Z undoes flags and ratings; Cmd+Shift+Z brings them back.

Library

• Renaming a folder or photo focuses the field right away, with the name selected.
• Returning from the editor lands where you left: the grid and the folder list scroll back to your photo.
• Deleting a folder counts the photos in every subfolder, and warns when iCloud may still be syncing a subfolder you just moved out.
• Split by Date no longer separates RAW+JPEG pairs and their companion files when names collide.

Editor

• Pinch to zoom works in every tool now, Heal included.
• Tool cursors stay on the photo; the pointer returns to normal over panels and buttons.
• On macOS 14, Heal shows one pointer, not two.
• Saving an edited HEIC or PNG keeps the shot's camera settings and capture date.

Video

• Rotating or trimming a clip keeps everything else: shooting info, the shoot date, and its place when sorted by date.
• Rotated clips show the right orientation, and thumbnails preview a pending rotation.

Recipes

• Photos with no recipe data no longer read as a grain-only recipe.

Privacy

• The analytics opt-in wording now matches the privacy policy.

Library

• Import from Card: copy photos and video straight off SD cards and drives. It finds Sony video that Image Capture misses, skips in-camera proxies, and verifies each copy before you clear the card.
• Add Apple Photos albums one at a time, instead of loading your whole library at once. All Photos is one of the choices.
• Sony video sidecars travel with their clips when you move, copy, duplicate, rename, or delete.
• Copy Path is now in the folder and photo right-click menus.

Editor

• Space plays and pauses a video.

• Jepex supports macOS 14 (Sonoma) again, so Sonoma Macs get everything in 1.7. One difference there: the pointer keeps its standard arrow shape.

• Minor cleanup in Account settings.

Editor

• Color Mixer: tune hue, saturation, and brightness for each color band.
• Tone curves gain separate red, green, and blue channels.
• Film grain is rebuilt to render the way pro editors do.
• Heal shows its progress, keeps the brush where you put it, and fills difficult spots more reliably. Its result now lands on the cropped photo.
• Crop handles respond predictably at every zoom level.
• Switching to the editor opens the photo you had selected in the Library, including Apple Photos and HEIC shots.
• Trim videos and rotate them in 90-degree steps; the footage is cut, not re-compressed.

Borders

• Pick two colors per border, with new Frame and Bold styles and one width control across styles.
• Film-scan frames share one look, with a warmer dark ink.

Library

• RAW+JPEG pairs show as one photo.
• Add Apple Photos as a source; ratings there sync between your Macs through iCloud.
• Apply Edits asks where results go: copies next to the originals, a folder you pick, or overwrite.

• Copy Edits pastes only the adjustments you choose, and a batch paste undoes in one step.

Templates

• Share-card templates: new cards, a stacked-portrait layout, a custom theme color, and no wordmark.
• The template picker is reordered, collages align cleanly, and RAW pairs show a badge.

Plans

• The whole recipe side is free now, forever: detect the recipe behind any photo, browse, compare, favorite, create. Jepex Pro is the workflow: sort the shoot, add final touches.
• The free trial is retired; the free plan is the tryout, and the paywall has one Subscribe button.
• Subscribe without signing up first: your account is created from your checkout email.
• Hitting a Pro feature signed out shows the paywall, not a sign-in form.

Terms & privacy

• Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are updated (August 2026).

Stability

• Saving uses less memory, and heavy batches back off before the system runs low.
• File moves and renames guard your ratings and pending edits against loss.
• Many small fixes across the editor, library, and recipes.

Onboarding & sign-in

• jepex no longer opens with a login wall. The Library, editor, and recipe browsing all work without an account, so the app opens straight to your photos. You're asked to sign in only where it genuinely needs an account: your profile, favoriting a recipe, creating a recipe from a photo, and the Favourites and My Recipes tabs.
• When sign-in is needed it appears as a card over the app, not a full-screen takeover. Dismiss it by tapping outside, the close button, or Esc, and it resumes whatever you were doing once you're in.
• New: a first-launch welcome tour introduces the Library, the editor, Recipes, and how your files stay on your Mac. Reopen it any time from Help > "Welcome to Jepex."
• The empty Library now makes clear your photos never leave your Mac.

Recipes

• Recipe matching now has a free taste: open a Fujifilm or Ricoh photo and the matcher reveals your ranked matches free for your first three folders, no account or subscription needed. The matcher shows how many free matches you have left; after that, matching is part of the Studio plan.
• The paywall is simpler and clearer: two cards (Free and Studio) with sharper, benefit-led copy.

Polish

• The About box now shows the app's copyright instead of being blank.
• "Lossless" wording is now reserved for cropping (which is genuinely lossless); tonal edits re-encode, so the copy no longer overclaims.
• Refreshed paywall and various interface strings to match the website, with cleaner punctuation throughout.
• Tapping "Not now" on the optional analytics prompt now means "ask me later," not a permanent no, so a reflexive first dismissal no longer opts you out for good.

Editor

• New Color Grading controls in the Light tab tint shadows, midtones, and highlights independently — cool the shadows, warm the highlights, or build a split-tone look as a finishing pass.
• The crop tool now shows your exact cropped result — pixel-identical to what you'll save — on every tab, with no stray skew, banding, or leftover edges when you zoom out. Press Return to switch between previewing the crop and editing it.
• Heal edits stay visible as you move between the Light, Crop, and Effects tabs, instead of showing only on the Heal tab.
• On macOS Sonoma, you can type values into the Light, Color, and zoom fields again.
• Opening a photo in the editor while a batch Apply is still rewriting it is now prevented, so edits can't be silently applied twice.

Library

• Switching photos in the preview panel is instant — the cached thumbnail appears immediately and sharpens to full resolution, instead of a blank spinner on every switch.
• "Download from iCloud" is now "Download from Cloud," since it also works with Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive.

Recipes

• Creating and publishing your own recipes is now free and unlimited. Favorites stays a Recipes-plan feature (3 free, unlimited on paid plans).
• When adding photos to a recipe, the library picker offers the same rating and flag filters you use in the gallery and editor.
• Recipe thumbnails stay visible after the app frees memory, instead of dropping to a gray placeholder.
• The brand, visibility, and "Shot on" chips on recipe photos now share one consistent style.

Export templates

• Your selected template now sticks as you move between photos and switch modes.
• Slots auto-fill with the next photo that matches each frame's orientation, and you can filter the slot picker by your current rating and flag filter.
• Slightly tighter overlays on the film-roll and camera-collage layouts.

Account

• Account wording now matches the two paid tiers (Recipes and Studio): the upgrade button reads "Upgrade" and opens the full plan picker.

Stability

• The main window no longer opens tiny after an app update — it restores to a proper size.
• Playing a video from the library no longer crashes, and the scrubber no longer snaps back when you release it.

Editor

• Light sliders (Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Whites, Blacks) now respond naturally — a small adjustment stays subtle instead of crushing the whole image.
• Crop tool: the lock setting sticks, your crop survives switching tabs, and the canvas renders cleanly.
• Long text in the Info and recipe-matcher panels fades at the edge instead of cutting off.

Borders & templates

• The Polaroid border no longer shifts landscape photos sideways.

Privacy

• We refreshed our Privacy Policy (15 June 2026) to cover the new privacy-first analytics. You'll be asked to review and accept the update before continuing.

Editor

• Zoom now follows your cursor, panning is free in every direction, and edges you couldn't quite reach before are reachable.
• Borders gained a film-scan frame style, selectable output sizes, and per-style presets.
• Open a video to view it read-only — its metadata and camera recipe are extracted just like a photo.

Library

• New sort-by dropdown and a reorganized filter popover.
• Clicking to select in the grid is instant now — the old delay is gone.

Recipes

• White-balance shift displays the way it looks on the camera.
